I am completely done with my senior project all except for 2 more presentations. It was a fun ride, but I am glad to be almost done. From the beginning to the end of the year it went pretty smooth overall and was very enjoyable. I'm glad on the topic I chose and glad with how it went. Thanks to everyone who helped me in this huge process.
Giving my first presentation was a bit nerve wrecking. I did make the required time limit of at least 10 minutes and felt that I did a pretty good job. I was nervous, but I kept my composure and did fine. Total time was about 14 minutes and it went very smooth. Now I have to present again on the 28th and then again next week on Monday and Wednesday.
The senior project has changed me and also made me find out a little bit more about myself. I have learned that I'm more outgoing than I once thought and can organize things and set up schedules, also. I am also more confident in myself in the real world now, too. I have interacted with people and set up times and dates to meet and just feel more confident and ready.
I was glad to finally get onto the presentation part of things. I feel very confident about my presentation but I'm also very nervous. We talked a lot about presenting and watched a couple videos and it went well. We are now on the down hill stretch.
I have learned a lot from shadowing with my mentor. I not only learned to show up on time and come prepared to shadow, but also how to talk to people and be able to set up times to meet and just a lot of really good life skills. Choosing to have a final product in which I had to shadow someone was a good choice for me to give me a look at what the future will be like. Plus I actually got to do some hands on things at the bank which helped me out more than anything finding out if I like what I was doing. Overall it was a good experience and helped me for in the future with jobs and life skills.
Now it's time for the presentation. I partly have my presentation done. I have just about all of the steps that I need to have done for my final project since I shadowed. I'm glad that the shadowing part is over with and now ready to keep moving forward to find the end of the project.
I just finished my shadowing on Saturday. I have completed my total of 20 hours shadowing and I'm now working on my presentation. I am glad to have the shadowing part done and now ready to move on to the last part. The shadowing part was fun and I really enjoyed it, but ready to finish up the senior project.
I completed my second day of shadowing my mentor just recently. I did most of the same stuff as the first time, but also a few more things. I was actually able to give a loan to a customer, but it wasn't a lot of money just a customer who agreed to let me learn about giving a loan and actually give one to him. I also got to find the total income for the day which wasn't easy. I had to go through and count each of the dollar bills and all the coins and make sure that after all the counting was done the ending number came out right.
I learned a little bit about what goes into making a loan. When someone comes in and requests a loan there is more than what you think that goes into it. You have to look back on their recent income history, ability to repay the size of loan, what they own and etc. It also depends on if their requesting a loan for machinery on a farm or for a farm purpose or for just a vehicle or what. I found it very interesting what all went into making and giving a loan and even having to deny a loan.
I did my first shadow on Wednesday last week. It went quite well and I learned a lot about banking in general. I have roughly half of my hours that I need done already. My mentor talked to me a lot about the generals of banking and also went into detail about the stuff he does. He showed me how to make a loan for someone and I also learned how to tell if someone is worthy of receiving a loan.
